Jacques H. Trienekens (1954) received an MSc degree in Geography at Nijmegen University in 1984 (with distinction/beta plus). Before joining Wageningen University in 1992 he worked as social-science researcher, as teacher in information systems and as management consultant in public health organisations. He received a PhD in Food Chain Management at Wageningen University in 1999. From 2000 – 2003 he was director programme management of Agri Chain Competence, an organisation that facilitated (international) public-private partnership projects, and also worked (and still works) as associate professor at Management Studies Group of Wageningen University. He has been visiting professor at University of Bonn in Germany (2005) and University of Pretoria in South Africa (2009) and has been member of the board of directors of International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IAMA) from 2004-2010. He is editor and managing editor of Journal on Chain and Network Science and International Food and Agribusiness Management Review respectively.

 

Specializations

 

Jacques Trienekens has specialized in food chain and network management, more specifically in the field of management and governance of inter-company operations. His teaching experiences are in management information systems, integrated control of product flows and chain and network management. Research themes include governance, quality systems, information systems and innovation in (international) food chains and networks. Jacques Trienekens has published in international journals such as the International Journal for Production Economics, British Food Journal, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Production Planning and Control, Computers in Industry, International Food and Agribusiness Management Review and Journal on Chain and Network Science.

Jacques Trienekens has been a visiting researcher at Cornell University, Department of Economics and Management, from June 2003 to January 2004 and visiting Professor at University of Bonn (Germany) in the first half of 2005. He is co-founder of the bi-annual international conference on Food Chain and Network Management. Jacques Trienekens coordinated the EU 5th Framework concerted action Safe and High Quality International Food Chains (Acronym Safeacc, 2002-2005) and was coordinator of component knowledge dissemination of the EU Interreg IIIC program Promstap. Currently he is coordinator of module IV (on chains) of EU 6th Framework IP QPorkchains with 17 international partners and 5 PhD students, Steering Committee member of the EU 6th Framework SSA Alcuefood and active as (leading) researcher in several other EU projects such as the EU 6th Framework SSA EUMercopol and the EU 6th Framework IP ISAFRUIT. Since 2004 Jacques Trienekens is member of the Board of Directors of International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IAMA).
